Anyone who browse online bookstores lately would knew what’s the rave on the bestseller list lately. The phenomenal 50 Shades Trilogy stays put on top three for months till today. I ignored it initially because a queue of novels on my shelf are waiting for me to read and collecting dust at the same time so I try (very hard) not to lengthen the queue, and also because I wasn’t aware of the erotic content of the bestseller trilogy, until I saw an article from a female magazine. Who isn’t curious about the universally well-known erotic novels? So I started reading it with ebook (no extra load on the shelf).
I can’t comment much on the book at this moment as I’m only one-third through 50 shades of grey, the first of the trilogy but it’s easy to know what the rave is all about especially if you’ve read passed chapter 8. I would say it was so far a mind-blowing yet amusing read.
I know, you must be wondering what’s with the erotic bestseller on my food blog. Let me explain. Lately I am quite into cocktails and the latest liquor addition to my collection was the Hendrick’s Gin so I’ve been thinking about various cocktail mix that I can make using it. You know sometimes inspiration just comes from anywhere, and I was inspired by my recent erotic read and was dreaming of a cocktail that taste sexy and look hot (red).
So I gathered anything that are ‘sexy’ to the concoction. Strawberries, blueberries, honey, orange blossom water, lemons and of course the Hendrick’s gin. Result? A cocktail that will arouse your senses….
Just a note on the concoction, if you don’t have Hendrick’s gin, any gin is fine. Limoncino can be optional, or you can try other fruity liquer. Just play around with it, have fun but don’t forget the orange blossom water. It’s essential here. I always think every cocktail should have an apt-to-its-taste name, so I named my cocktail Kinky Blush. I thought it kinda fits. Make yourself a glass and enjoy with your erotic read. They pair well. *winks
Kinky Blush (Makes 1 tall glass)
Ingredients
1/2 cup strawberries, fresh or frozen
1/2 cup blueberries, fresh or frozen
1 small handful of mint leaves
2 teaspoons honey
1 teaspoon orange blossom water
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tablespoons Limoncino or any other fruit liquer
2 tablespoons Hendrick’s gin or any other gin
1 cup of ice cubes
1 slice of strawberry (for garnish)
Method
Combine all ingredients except the ice in a blender and blend for 15 seconds. Add the ice and blend until smooth. Garnish with strawberry slice. Serve immediately with a straw and your (kinky) book.
I love your addition of orange blossom water here. So subtle and creative!
